About Weflect
What is Weflect?
Weflect is a social network review service that allows users to rate and review items across topics and categories. People don't only engage in one hobby or interest, so Weflect seeks to allow users to curate all of their thoughts on one service and present a full image of themselves. We like to think of this in two halves:
Internal reflection: Users reflect upon a recent item they bought or beer they drank or a hotel they stayed at and formulate a clear opinion of that experience. We hope that users find taking a moment to think about an experience will help make it even more profound.
External reflection: Our thoughts are reflected to friends, family, and others. This starts discussions, allows for collaboration, and better understanding of one another.
Our Mission
Weflect's mission is to empower the consumer. We start this by allowing users to share their opinions with each other but hope to get vendors involved by offering them tools to gauge and react to consumer feedback.
Why We Do It
Reviews are everywhere, in storefronts, dedicated niche services, advertisements, etc. But all of these reviews are siloed in each website, meaning users have no way to maintain or keep track of all the reviews they write. Also, we feel that the social review functionality enjoyed by certain categories like Food, Books, Wines should be available for any topic.
Weflect seeks to become a one-stop shop for you to find reviews on anything you want. If a topic or category does not exist, create it. If you want more details about a certain type of product or topic, either request them or add them yourself. If you don't find it on our website, add a link to where you do and help out the next searcher. We want to make the website as customizable by the masses as possible.
Of course opening up editing to everyone has its hazards and thus we seek to leverage trusted users to maintain and edit the structure and master data. As users show a better understanding of the website, of the category structures, and of a specific topic, they will be invited to aid us in improving the website and making it a first-rate resource.
Looking Forward
With the availability of smart phones, global wireless internet is becoming the next leap forward in technology and society. What type of information do you want to be able to have in the palm of your hand when this comes around? Weflect was created to answer just that question. Why bother using a search engine that scours the infinite expanse of the web when you really want is reviews on a given product, especially opinions by your trusted friends, family, and other reviewers. We want you to be able to be at the electronics store or home appliance store and compare various products in real-time, relying more on those you trust than some random store employee.
Of course we cannot know exactly what the future holds and that is why we want you to help us with feedback and input on what functionality you would like to see or what enhancements you feel would improve usability.
